NANS demands 26% allocation for education

MAKURDI—National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has urged the Federal Govern-ment to tackle what it described as the dwindling educational standards in the country by allocating 26% of its budget to the funding of education in line with the UNESCO recom-mendation.

National Publicity Secretary of NANS, Mr. Gideon Obande, spoke on behalf Nigerian students at the Benue State Town Hall Meeting of Youths Advocacy for the Removal of Petrol Subsidy.

NANS maintained that the persistent disregard for the UNESCO recommen-dation accounts for the appalling state of affairs in the sector.
